NEWTON SPORTS FIELD
SUNDAY, APRIL 4, 2004
Ingle Farm travelled to Newton Sports Field in the opening round of the SAASL Division 3 league, the opposition being a talented San Marco outfit.
Ingle Farm opened the scoring 20 minutes in the first half with a well taken goal which ignited the Farm's large travelling army of supporters.
San Marco were not going to lay down without a fight and a good move saw the home team equalize 10 minutes later.
At half time the game was in the balance at 1 - 1.
After a half time rev up from coach Paul Simpson, Ingle Farm came out firing in the second half, scoring a quickfire 3 goals in a brilliant 20 minute period.
In a comical moment, 5 minutes from the end of the match, the sprinklers came on, resulting in the game being held up for 5 minutes.
When order was restored, a lack of concentration at the death resulted in Ingle Farm conceding a soft goal, which made the end result 4 - 2 to the Farm.
