ROUND 1
BOSNA V INGLE FARM
FAWK RESERVE
SUNDAY, APRIL 10, 2005
Ingle Farm, recently promoted from Division 3, travelled to Croyden
West where they met Bosna who last season were relegated from Division
1, in the opening fixture of the Division 2 2005 season.
Farm
created chances early and appeared to be the better team in the opening
20 minutes when they scored from a terrific through ball from Brendan
Altus in the midfield to take the lead through Torsten Rutter. 1- 0.
A
lapse in concentration allowed Bosna back into the match when the home
team cut a ball back to their big striker who put the ball past the
Ingle Farm goalkeeper. 1 - 1.
Farm responded with a flurry of attacks but were unable to scramble the ball into the net before the break.
Half Time 1 - 1.
After
the break, Ingle Farm again took the lead. A good ball into Bosnas 18
yard box ended with a Dave Ennis header into the back of the net and
Farm were again cruising, 2 - 1.
However Ingle Farms afternoon was about to be dealt a blow when the referee awarded Bosna two penalties in 10 minutes.
The
first penalty was awarded for hand ball when the Bosna player flicked
the ball onto a defenders hand, the second penalty was for a tackle
from behind in the Farm 18 yard box. 3 - 2 to Bosna.
Despite
these setbacks, Farm did not give up and continued to attack the Bosna
goal coming close on several occasions in the final 10 minutes.
Very disappointing day for the first team after being on top for the majority of the match.
Final score Bosna 3 Ingle Farm 2.
ROUND 2
INGLE FARM vs BLUE EAGLES
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2005
In
their first home game of the 2005 season proper, Ingle Farm entertained
Blue Eagles in Round 2 at Walkleys Park on a windy Autumn afternoon.
Blue Eagles had lost their opening fixture against West Beach 3-2.
The
match opened with Ingle Farm on top all over the park, creating many
chances but failing to capitalize. However, Blue Eagles were unlucky
not to score when in the 13th minute they hit the crossbar.
Blue
Eagles earned themselves a penalty after 20 minutes when an ordinary
Anthony Martini tackle was deemed to be inside the 18yd box. The
visitors put the spot kick away.
Ingle Farm 0, Blue Eagles 1.
Farm
quickly responded with a fantastic goal in the 35th minute when striker
Torsten Rutter made a terrific solo run into the Blue Eagles 18yd box -
ending with a smashing drive, 1-1.
Half Time: Ingle Farm 1, Blue Eagles 1.
The
second half began with another Blue Eagles goal. Indecision in the Farm
backlines left the Blue Eagles striker with an easy finish, Ingle Farm
1, Blue Eagles 2.
Farm
frantically tried to bring themselves level, however the score remained
unchanged until the 70th minute. Substitute Anthony Ragazzo came on to
score an opportunist's goal - the ball was well-placed past the Blue
Eagles keeper. 2-2.
With
the game in the balance Ingle Farm struck. A good ball into the
visitors 18yd box saw the keeper under pressure as Torsten Rutter
headed the ball home from close range.
3-2 to the Farm.
In
the final minutes, salt was rubbed into wounds when substitute Barry
Fitzharris put in a bullet shot from the right, leaving the Blue Eagles
keeper with no hope, the ball rocketing into the back of the visitors
net. 4-2.
A fine comeback win by the home team. The win positions Farm mid-table after the opening two rounds.
Final score Ingle Farm 4 Blue Eagles 2
ROUND 3
INGLE FARM vs MACEDONIA
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, APRIL 24, 2005
Ingle
Farm had a lucky escape at home to Macedonia in their 3rd Round fixture
at Walkleys Park in sultry, overcast conditions. Macedonia were winless
after the opening 2 rounds.
Ingle Farm started well, having the majority of play in the opening minutes, but failed to get shots on target.
However
in the 20th minute this game took a dramatic twist. After a good
through ball, Torsten Rutter went around the Macedonia goalkeeper only
to be intentionally taken down 25 metres out from goal. The referee had
no choice but to send the keeper off. The resulting free kick was
wasted.
But
the 10-manned Macedonia were not about to lie down as they battled and
defended resolutely to stay in the match. With their stand in keeper
doing a sound job, the Macedonia players lifted and regained their
confidence to make the game an even contest during the first half.
At half time the score remained 0-0.
The
second half saw the home team have the majority of the play while
Macedonia relied on the break, creating several openings. If not for
some superb saves by Farm goalkeeper Colin Smith, then Farm may have
gone behind against the 10 men of Macedonia.
The
game appeared to be heading for a scoreless draw until the 87th minute
when Chris Ennis climbed above the Macedonia defence to head the winner
home from a fine cross.
Final score: Ingle Farm 1 Macedonia 0.
ROUND 4
INGLE FARM vs MODBURY VISTA
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 8, 2005
Ingle
Farm suffered a poor loss at home to Modbury Vista today. The loss
slumps the 1st team down to 6th position on the Division 2 ladder,
after the opening four rounds.
In
the perfect conditions, Vista opened smartly. Their speed along the
flanks was of concern as the home team appeared to struggle to knock
the ball around.
A
poor clearance from the back led to Vista taking the lead. The ball was
cleared up the middle of the park, straight to the feet of a Vista
midfielder, who knocked the ball to their striker, who easily beat the
keeper one on one... 1-0 to the visitors.
Farm
were struggling during the first half. Almost no chances were created
as Vista seemed content to defend their lead after the goal.
Half Time: Ingle Farm 0 Modbury Vista 1.
After
coaches Alan Leadbeater and Paul Simpson broke the sound barrier at
half time, the Farm players came out pumped up for the second half.
Farm
came at Vista a hundred miles an hour as they looked for the equalizer.
Unfortunately for the home team, chance after chance was wasted, as
Vista desperately tried to keep Farm out.
Farm dominated the second half, as the ball barely made it out of Vista's half of the ground.
Three
excellent chances were missed in the second half for Farm, which proved
to be the difference at the end of the game. Vista had taken their
chance, while Farm wasted their opportunities.
Very disappointing.
Final Score: Ingle Farm 0 Modbury Vista 1
ROUND 5
INGLE FARM vs NAB
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 15, 2005

down to draw against top team NAB at Walkley Park today. The draw kept
Farm's title hopes alive.
N.A.B.
started the match on top, and deservedly took the lead in the 20th
minute when a free kick was not dealt with by Farm's defence and the
ball was tucked away into the bottom corner of the net. 1-0.
Farm
fought their way back into the match, but were having trouble
penetrating NAB's defence. Farm's strikers were well held as chances
for the home team were few and far between.
Half time Ingle Farm 0 NAB 1.
After
the break, the visitors extended their lead. A fine solo run by an NAB
striker resulted in the ball finding the net from a tight angle. 2-0.
NAB
continued to trouble Farm after the goal and were unlucky not to score
again as the goalkeeper was adjudged to have been fouled as NAB again
put the ball in Farm's net.
With
20 minutes remaining, Farm pulled a goal back when Anthony Martini
drilled home a shot from an accurate Peter Bria cross. 2-1.
This
goal seemed to inspire the home team as they lifted all over the park
and began to dominate over the tiring visitors. Farm were now attacking
in waves as their counterparts desperately tried to keep them out.
With
10 minutes remaining in the match, Farm equalized when a cross was not
cleared by NAB and the resulting scramble resulted in Shaun Mitchell
hammering the ball home form 10 yards out. 2-2.
Ingle
Farm continued to press for the final minutes and were unlucky not to
win the game with 2 chances narrowly missing the NAB goal.Great game,
however the final result helped neither team.

ROUND 6
WEST BEACH vs INGLE FARM
WEST BEACH
SUNDAY, MAY 22, 2005
David Ennis scored a superb hat trick for Ingle Farm as the first team
crushed West Beach 4-2 at Lockleys Oval today. The win lifted the 1st
team into third place on the 2nd Division Ladder.
Farm
started positively in the opening minutes. A lay off to Ennis saw the
ball smacked into the West Beach goal from the right hand side. 1-0 to
Farm.
Minutes
later, some good work from Torsten Rutter set up Ennis for his second
as the ball was squared from the right and tapped in. 2-0.
West
Beach, rellying on break away attacks, pulled one back in the 20th
minute. A nice cross set up their striker who elegantly volleyed the
ball in from 15 yards out. 2-1.
Rutter
restored the two goal buffer for Farm as he took on the defence and
neatly put the ball past the hapless West Beach keeper. 3-1 to Farm.
After
the break Ingle Farm continued to attack. West Beach were under seige
as Farm hit the post, had a goal disallowed and narrowly missed several
chances.
Peter
Bria made a good run in the 70th minute and his fine cross found David
Ennis again who made no mistake from 15 yards out. 4-1 to Farm.
West
Beach having been outplayed for the majority of the match, did not give
up and scored a consolation goal in the final 10 minutes. 4-2.
Fine result for Farm away from home.
Final Score: West Beach 2, Ingle Farm 4
ROUND 7
INGLE FARM vs SALISBURY FLORINA
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 5th, 2005
Salisbury Florina (1st) visited Ingle Farm (3rd) at Walkley Park on a warm afternoon in front of a healthy home crowd.
The
visitors opened the match full of confidence as they neatly played the
ball through their midfield and created the more chances.
After
15 minutes, Florina took the lead when a fine cross was impressively
lobbed over the head of the Farm goalkeeper, and into the net. Florina
1 Farm 0.
The
goal seemed to sting the home team, as they dominated the rest of the
first half, creating many chances, but poor finishing let the team
down. Peter Bria missed an open goal after Florina goalkeeper, Matt
Peace, had fumbled, while Shaun Mitchell was unlucky when his
opportunists strike struck the upright and rebounded away in the 40th
minute.
Half Time: Ingle Farm 0 Salisbury Florina 1
The
second half began with Farm well on top. The visitors appeared fatiuged
in the second half, after marching up Farm Hill during the first.
Farm's
strikers were leaving Florina's defenders for dead as they continually
turned their men and created chances. Farm were unlucky not to score
when Ricky Simpson again hit the upright in the 65th minute.
After
15 minutes of constant Ingle Farm pressure, Florina finally cracked. A
fine cross from Anthony Ragazzo led to a mad scramble in Florina's box
before David Ennis hammered the ball into the net, to set up an
exciting final 10 minutes.
Florina
thought they had found a late winner when a hand was used to knock the
ball into Farm's net before having it disallowed by the referee.
The
two tired teams slogged it out for the remaining minutes with some end
to end stuff before the referee blew the final whistle.
The match was played with a fantastic spirit, with both teams giving one hundred percent.
Final Score: Ingle Farm 1 Salisbury Florina 1

minutes of the restart when Rutter again took on the defence and his
shot found the back of the net. 3 - 1.
A San Marco player was red carded soon after the goal in what appeared to be abuse toward the referee.

rarely left their half of the ground.

Torsten
Rutter brought the two teams level 15 minutes later when the Farm

Half Time: Ingle Farm 1 Bosna 1.
The
second half saw Bosna step up the pace when 10 minutes into the half,
they scored 3 goals in 15 minutes to knock the wind out of the home
team.
Farm were
disappointing all day. Only a handful of players won their positions as
Bosna's direct style cut through Farm's defence time and again.
It
was Farm's worst second half of the year, a half of soccer which saw
them clearly beaten by their opponents and concede 3 goals. The 12 goal
turn around from the week's previous win over San Marco leaves many
people a little bemused.
The
loss sees Farm drop to 4th position in Division 2, while Bosna climbed
to 3rd. A real 6 pointer match is lost in Farm's dreams of promotion in

NAB vs INGLE FARM
ATHELSTONE
SUNDAY, AUGUST 7th, 2005
Ricky
Simpson scored two great goals for Farm to help them to a convincing 3
- 0 win away against 2nd placed N.A.B today. The win sees the 1st team
consolidate 3rd position.
Simpson opened the scoring in the 15th minute when he magnificently flicked the ball over the N.A.B keeper.
1 - 0.
Farm's
midfield was well on top during the first half as N.A.B struggled to
keep Farm out of their own 18 yard box. N.A.B's keeper made some good
saves to deny the visitors a second.
5
minutes before half time, Farm keeper Colin Smith made a fine save to
deny a deflected N.A.B shot that was helped on by Farm fullback Dave
Bailey.
Halftime 1 - 0 to Farm.
In the 55th minute a scramble in N.A.B's 18 yard box led to Simpson tapping home a goal in off the post. 2 - 0 to Farm.
N.A.B
fought back into the match after this goal and were unlucky not to
score when a ball was furiously cleared off Farm's goal line, not once,
but twice. Farm's defence was terrific under pressure and time and time
again they scrambled the ball clear.
In
the 70th minute, Dave Ennis put in a terrific cross to find Brad
Donovan who volleyed the ball home from 12 yards out. 3 - 0 to the
visitors.
N.A.B
did not give up and continued to press for a goal, however in their
attempt to lift the tempo, they had a forward player sent off for
swearing at the referee in the 80th minute.
Farm's resloute defence gave nothing away all day. Chris Ennis, Dave
Bailey, Alby Lynn and Anthony Martini were right on their game, while
goalkeeper Colin Smith was sizzling in goals for Farm with several
great shutouts.

ROUND 16
SALISBURY FLORINA vs INGLE FARM
SALISBURY
SUNDAY, AUGUST 28th, 2005
Ingle
Farm succumbed Salisbury Florina 3 - 1 today, which handed the Division
2 title to their opponents. However, Ingle Farm had more than their
fair share of chances to win this game.
In
overcast yet warm conditions, the match opened evenly with both teams
creating early chances. Florina came closest to scoring when a great
shot struck the upright after 10 minutes.
Possession
wise, Farm were the better team during the first half. Chris Ennis was
winning everything in the air, Martin Lara was playing a terrific game
in the midfield, David Ennis was causing havoc in Florina's defence and
Torsten Rutter was making some good runs.
However
against the run of play, Florina opened the scoring in the 23rd minute
when some poor defending allowed a Florina shot on target. 1 - 0 to
Florina.
Minutes later, Florina doubled their lead when an angled ball was misjudged and snuck in on the near post. 2 - 0.
Despite
the amount of chances made for Farm during the first half, no player
seemed to test the Florina keeper. The half time score remained 2 - 0
to the home team.
After
the break, Farm came out determined to pull a goal back. Florina had
lost their intensity early in the second half as Farm midfielders
Martin Lara and Brendan Altus got well on top.
However,
chance after chance was being sprayed as the ball was sent over
Florina's crossbar, or wide of the target, time and time again.
In
the 67th minute, Farm eventually did pull a goal back when Brad
Donovan's cross attempt found its way into the far corner of the net. 2
- 1.
However
Florina thwarted any hope of a Farm comeback when in the 75th minute
they extended their lead to 3 - 1 as Florina's striker rounded Farm
keeper Colin Smith and tapped the ball home from 5 yards.
Farm
did not give up after this setback, and continued to attack. In the
final 10 minutes of the match, Farm created three good opportunities,
but its finishing let the team down.
Florina
won the match, and the league, and proceeded to celebrate on the pitch
after the game as euphoria took over after the tense game.

be sent off.
San
Marco utilized their extra man advantage after this, and the home team
managed to pull two goals back late in the game after some sloppy
defending from Farm.
