ROUND 1
MUNNO PARA VS INGLE FARM
ULEY ROAD, MUNNO PARA
SUNDAY, APRIL 2, 2006

WHAT WENT WRONG....!!!!! Let's just say you can't win a game with 9 men...!

We did bloody well to keep it to 8 - 1 (2 goals in the last 5 minutes.)

Dazza Bancroft did a groin on half time and graciously volunteered to go in goals (even though he couldn't move) and Lee Martindale did an ankle.

Cookie scored a cracker and ran all day, while the defense did what we could against 10 forwards...

Its a shit way to start the season and with 2 - 4 week injuries, lets hope those who haven't signed up yet do so in time for this weeks game, playing with 7 men wont get the crowds back.

Half time oranges could have made all the difference...

Final Score : Munno Para 8 , Ingle Farm C's 1

ROUND 2
INGLE FARM vs FULHAM
WALKLEY PARK, INGLE FARM
SUNDAY, APRIL 9, 2006

Ingle Farm C's entertained Fulham who travelled 17,000 kms to get here after their game against Sunderland was postponed. They also left Boa Morte and Malbranque behind in case their one Australian supporter, Vman, tried to kidnap them.

But they did bring what must have been the smallest keeper to ever visit Ingle Farm, made Kingie look like a giant. They say a week in soccer is a long time, but how a result can change when you have a full squad.

This week we had 14 players with the return of Vman, out on parole, Brendan Fagan, back after taking 12 months off to study for his "L"s and guest appearance of the J man (Josh McQueen) unavailable for the B's.

We kicked off up hill and looked in control from the outset, pushing the ball around and moving it from defence to attack. We had Dazza Van Der Sarr in goals and he looked so good in his orange top that the Fulham team decided not to even shoot at goal in case he got dirty.

By half time it was 3-0, with the highlight being Vman getting a kick up the backside from a Fulham player.

Half time chat and bags of oranges then back out to reduce last weeks goal difference. Cookie was full of running up front and twice beat the keeper from outside 18 yards and finished the game with 4 goals.

Fulham started to get frustrated and argue as we knocked in four 2nd half goals to win 7-0. We should have won by more as many shots went high into Koala country as everyone tried to chip the 3 foot keeper, but 7 was a great result for our efforts.

With most now training twice a week we ran the game out to the end and looked by far the fitter team. Our tight defence kept them out of the 18 yard box which meant Dazza only touched the ball twice while there were goals to Cookie 4, J-man 2 and Vman 1.

An exceptional performance all round that makes us 8-8 in the goal count now and back in the hunt. Well done lads. I don't know who BOG is, but as we dont have a BOG sponsor (maybe R.M.Williams are interested?) I'll donate my copy of the Sunday Mail to him.

Special thanks to Edwin who gave up his spot on the team to be ref for the game.

ROUND 3
MODBURY VISTA VS INGLE FARM
WYNN VALE
SUNDAY, APRIL 23, 2006

Ingle Farm C's drove up the Golden Way to visit Modbury Vista.

We enjoyed the luxury of playing on the big pitch which was looking a treat as again the sun shone overhead. Again a full squad of 14 with Bling Bling returning after concussion and our own "Ronaldo" Edwin, opting to play rather than ref this week, and the luxury of having Richard in goals. Brendan still missing in action, studying for his P's now.

The Vista side, which seemed to have more players over 40 than we did, kicked off and looked a bit unsure from the start. We dominated play putting 3 or 4 passes together only for the final pass to go astray as were our first 4 shots on goal.

Then finally good work by Bling Bling to beat the defender and cross in front of the keeper for Golden Boots Cookie to tap in from 5 yards. 1-0.

We looked very good in the middle of the park but still failed to capitalize on our possession. With Belly cheering us on from the side lines I picked the ball up inside my own half and after going past 3 players found my self approaching the keeper. Rather than pass back, I decided to shoot and tucked it in the bottom corner to make it 2-0 - to the rapture of players and supporters - showed the forwards how its done.

Half Time: Modbury Vista 0, Ingle Farm 2.

We were slow to wake up in the second half and Neil hit the post from 18 yards, but it was his own post, great shot but wrong end. Then a lapse and with their only real attack Vista scored to make it 2-1, and we looked shocked.

Our fitness told in the last 15 minutes as we came back to life and goals to Vman, Cookie and a 1 yard tap in for Bling Bling (finally), gave us a very respectable 5-1 win. Apart form a 15 minute lapse, we really dominated Vista and with our scoring boots on, could have won by more.

Another pleasing display to get our season back on track and increase our goal difference. All played well, especially Edwin, Cookie, Vman and Lee along with a 15 minute cameo by Coach Dunstall.

Coach was heard to say "Did anyone watch Hawthorn on Friday?"

Final score: Modbury Vista 1, Ingle Farm 5.

ROUND 4
ISC RAPTORS VS INGLE FARM
PARADISE PRIMARY SCHOOL
SUNDAY, APRIL 30, 2006

INGLE FARM C's thrash Raptors 12-1

That’s what the title should read…..! After travelling to Paradise and then back to Ingle Farm, Mark Faulkner and myself finally made it to the Raptors ground at 11:25 and had to settle for a spot on the bench with no shirt.

The pitch was the size of a postage stamp but very green, apart from the cricket pitch in the middle. Its so different watching from the side line.

We had a cast of 1000's today with 6 on the bench due to packed A's and B's squads. Even with our top scorer Cookie Monster, out with an injured ankle while playing netball wearing his favourite GA (Gay attack.)

We picked up Alex Bautista, Josh McQueen and Johnny "Walker" Miller from the B's along with the return of Dazza Bancroft, Mark "Shocker" Faulkner and Brendan Fagan who had been holidaying together in West Beach.

Don’t know who kicked off, but we looked very strong and passed the ball around with authority, but again failed to produce a shot on target. Then with the introduction of Shocker we finally started peppering the goals and scored 3 times in 10 minutes.

The Raptors threatened to take the game up to us and finally pulled one back and could have easily had more as the defence looked all over the place.

Half Time: 3-1 to Farm.

Second half and coach Dunstall makes 3 changes and I'm back on the park. Our forwards start to fire now and we create so many chances that the Raptors keeper is getting a sore neck as he watches the ball fly past or over his head.

Finally Vman scores and its 4-1, then Dazza and then Vman again to make it 6-1. The second half looked like a training session as we had the ball on a string and ran rings round them, but failed to really hurt them on the score sheet.

Vman ended up with hatrick but he should have been joined by others. Josh some how ended up in goals and kept the score to only one with some ungoalie like saves. All played well and we really looked like a team hungry for top spot.

The only way we can improve is score more and get Josh some gloves. In all, a great result which keeps us in the hunt and gets our goal diff back on track.

With this many players, all I can say is get out to training guys, or buy Coach Dunstall some beers on Thursday.

Coach Dunstall was heard to say " Very pleasing, we looked like my beloved Hawks."

Final Score: ISC Raptors 1, Ingle Farm C's 6

ROUND 5
INGLE FARM vs TEA TREE GULLY
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 7, 2006

The Ingle Farm C team lost its second game of the season going down 5-2 against Tea Tree Gully City at Walkley Park Sunday morning. Wet and windy conditions greeted the two teams along with a heavy waterlogged pitch .

A squad of 14 was on hand but no keeper, no ref, no linesman and no gloves. So we had to sacrifice Edwin to go Ref and have our reserves had to run the line. Brendan Fagan volunteered to do the first half in goal with no Richard Bales.

Farm's defence was under the pump from the outset. Gully eventually scored after 10 minutes - giving Brendan no chance. 0-1.

Then a lapse at the back post and it was 0-2 and heads were starting to drop.

After conceding two goals, Farm finally woke up and started to look like a team that is challenging for the league title. The team enjoyed a fine 20 minute spell of possession creating several good changes, and finally a goal from a Vinnie Evans free kick. 1-2.

Half Time Ingle Farm 1, Tea Tree Gully 2

Half time and Scotty Dunstall gives us the flogging we deserve. A few changes and Danny Marotti volunteers to go in goals for the second half (he wont do that again in a hurry!)

Not long after the restart its 1-3 after Danny's attempt at a clearance hits the TTG forward and rebounds into the net from out side 18 yards!

Then 1-4 as Gully beat the offside trap and round the keeper Marotti easily.

We pull one back via a penalty to go 2-4 and look a chance of pulling off a draw, but it was not to be as we leak another goal in defence resulting in a 5th and Farm go down 2-5.

Tea Tree Gully have always been one of our bogey teams and the loss puts a dent in our title hopes.
The pitch was in pretty good condition after the overnight floods and could not blame it for the score line.

Good first up performance by Daniel Giorgetti (who wont be in the C's for long), while the rest of us had an off day.

Special thanks to Edwin Bautista for giving up his shirt to referee the game for the second time this year. I hear on the grapevine Lee Perkins will be refereeing the C Team matches for now on this season, which removes home matchday headaches for the club.

Final Score: Ingle Farm 2, Tea Tree Gully 5.

ROUND 6
PONTIAN vs INGLE FARM
RIDLEY GROVE PRIMARY SCHOOL
SUNDAY, MAY 21, 2006

Joachim Pereira stole the show by scoring the winner in Ingle Farm's C Team win over Pontian today at Mansfield Park.

The young striker, criticized previously for not scoring enough goals for Farm, silenced his critics (including one Belly) with a stunning header in the 65th minute that gave Farm a 2-1 away win.

Farm opened the game quite well in front of a pro-Pontian crowd. Lee Martindale, Brendan Fagan and Neil Newman were doing well repelling Pontian attacks while Darren Bancroft was fighting hard for Farm up front. But where was Gavin Powney? I heard on the grapevine that he was at the footy, cheering on the Power..

Edwin Bautista did a spleen complaining to the referee after 20 minutes, so he had to come off and was replaced by dashing Mark Preka.

Alex Luker opened the scoring for Farm after 25 minutes when his attempt at a cross bounced over the Pontian keeper's head and into the net (don't you love the C's?) Bancroft claimed to get a "snick" on it - after his diagonal run "made the goal" by "distracting the keeper." 1-0 to Farm.

However Pontian equalized minutes later when a goal was scored by their rampaging striker as Farm keeper Richard Bales had no hope with the bullet strike. Halftime 1-1.

After the break, Bancroft succumbed to injury. Oestitis Pubis kicked in as Bancroft was reeling after another heavy Saturday night on the turps restricted his movement during the second half.

Somebody said Jason Cook was playing for Farm, so I looked hard to see if I could spot him, then somebody said he was over there "near Jason Ogden," but I couldn't see him either. These two must be Phantom Players for the C Team. You see them warming up, kicking the ball round, doing little tricks, then when the match starts they disappear. Must be the green shirts against the green grass hey lads?? Maybe a green skirt Cookie?

And didn't Alex Luker set the world on fire with some stunning play for Farm in the C's. The former Polonia player, recently dumped from Farm's B Team, looked enthusiastic as ever as he stood and watched as the match went on around him. At least he scored I suppose.

But it was Kanu's day. Better known for scoring off the pitch, the diminutive little striker has now added another string to his game. Or is that a feather to his cap. Either way it was worth the wait to see a such fine finish at an important stage of a match.

Supercoach Graeme Scott was pleased with the result after the match, "I am pleased with the result, Robbie," said Scott.

The win keeps Farm's C Team in 2nd position in Division 9 after 6 matches.

Final Score: Pontian 1, Ingle Farm 2

ROUND 7 - BYE

ROUND 8
MACEDONIA vs INGLE FARM
BRAHMA LODGE FOOTBALL CLUB

SUNDAY, JUNE 4, 2006

Ingle Farm C’s travelled to Brahma Lodge where they met Macedonia, who failed to make the World Cup, but still showed us how to play a team game.

We had a cast of 1000’s due to relegated B players and those returning from injury, and even Richard Bales was there, with his gloves.

We lost the toss and were sent in to bat.. err sorry kicked off and lacked any penetration up front, and looked scared to go any where near the cricket pitch in case of an LBW appeal!

Maco scored after a shot was saved but could only be parried to the other forward who tapped in for 1-0 Maco.

We seemed to lift and started to string some passes together after this and had two real chances fluffed and/or saved, by the smallest keeper in the league, that once again made Kingy look like a giant!

Half time talk by coach Dunstall and back out we go keen to extract revenge. But the second half was much like the first, and their second goal was a copy of the first and we’re down 2-0.

We twice made the lepricorn keeper tip shots over his bar, which was by no means an easy feat for him, but still failed to score and the match soon finished 2-0.

A very disappointing result as we had our strongest team to date, which included 3 on the bench and 5 players who didn’t even get on the team sheet!!

With more players to choose from, its time to get out to training lads. Coach Dunstall looked a worried man, and was heard to say “I’m a worried man and why can’t the Hawks win anymore?”

A large crowd was on hand to witness the forming of the “Boo Squad”, who were in full voice once Boo managed to get on the park and get a kick for the Reserves in the match soon after.

C Team Bible “pasm 1”
Blessed are those who remember that we only haveth 13 pieces of green cloth, so those who arrive late to crucifixion, may find themselves without cloth and end up on the side lines with Brother Belly. Amen.

ROUND 9
INGLE FARM vs ADELAIDE LIMNOS
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 2006

The C's welcomed LEE PERKINS to Walkleys Park on a very Sunny winters day as he took the whistle for the match against top of the table Limnos.

Due to limited numbers Coach Dunstall was required to don the boots for this game and as we also had no keeper, Josh McQueen put the gloves on the for 2nd time in his career.

We kicked off down hill and played like we should be top, not 5th!! We moved the ball round with total authority and started to get into the 18 yard box with ease only to waste our chances.

Finally the ball finds it way to the back post for Alex Bautista to put away for a 1-0 lead.

We lost Vman due to a broken toe nail, so coach Dunstall brings himself on for a little cameo role in the centre of the park, and it pays off as he does his own "Cahill" and puts one away from 18 yards !! Farm are 2-0 up and looking for more.

We should have been 4-0 up as we walked off at half time with Limnos in disarray.

The second half will be remembered for a long time for all those who played as "stupidity gone wild", and not because we had to put Cookie in goals.

Limnos pulled a goal back to make it 2-1, and then one player lost his cool and started swinging and was helped out by his son, which ended up with both players being sent off leaving us with only 9 v 11 for the last 25 minutes.

Limnos dominated us all over the park, but didn't really know how to use their 2 player advantage but eventually we cracked and they made it 2-2.

We held on for the last 15 minutes to share the spoils. In the end it was 2 points lost and 2 players suspended.

Very disappointing to see this type of display, not only for the club but for the individuals concerned. We need to remember this is AMATEUR DIV 9 soccer, you will get a kick or a shirt tugged that the ref wont see, accept it and WALK AWAY...........!!!!!

Well done to the remaining 9 of us, to not drop our heads and hang on for the well earned point.

MUNNO PARA revenge this week, again at home, lets try and make Lee keep his cards in his pocket this time!

ROUND 10
INGLE FARM vs MUNNO PARA
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 25th, 2006

Ingle Farm C's went looking for.. and got revenge against Munno Para who thrashed us 8 - 1 in Round 1, by defeating them 2 - 1 at Walkley Park today.

We had the usual suspects with the guest appearance of Andy Lynn and special guest appearance by Brendan Fagan who put aside studying for his P's to play his first game in 2 months.

Vman's broken toe nail had also healed meaning a return to the centre of midfield, but coach Dunstall decided to rest himself this week after last weeks cameo took toll on his ageing body (or he just couldn't find his boots.)

We kicked off up hill and we were under threat from the word go. Para held the ball up well and continued to threaten our goal. Our defence was working overtime keeping the visitors out.

Richard Bales must have had his gloves on the right hands this week as he took charge between the posts and caught everything that was thrown at him.

We held on to go in at half time at 0 - 0. Kicking down hill we looked a different team and started to get into Munno Para's 18 yard box with ease. Finally a Darren Bancroft cross is put away on the back post by Vman, (with his head!).

Minutes later we make it 2 - 0 as Vman sets up Andy to score his first C team goal.

Para pushed us again but could only manage shots from outside the 18 yard box, and anything else was easily stopped by the outstanding Richard Bales.

In the final moments, a mix up in defence led to a Munno Para consolation goal which made the final scoreline 2 - 1 to Farm.

A hard fought win that puts our season back on track and gets the confidence back up.

Another fine display from Lee "Poll" Perkins who managed to keep his cards in his pocket, but at last count had blown his whistle 63 times. I think he was still blowing his whistle while running the lines for the B's.

Good games from Vman, Lee, Dazza and Richard. With other results seemingly going our way, its now only 3 points between the top 6 teams.

Next week its away to Fulham, so get out to training lads.

Coach Dunstall was heard to say "The teams happy, I'm happy, I got my rocks off.. howww good is this...!!!!" (Too much Triple M for you Gav! - Ed)

Final Score: Ingle Farm 2, Munno Para 1

ROUND 11
FULHAM vs INGLE FARM
CRAVEN COTTAGE :)
SUNDAY, JULY 2nd, 2006

INGLE FARM C's WIN AT CRAVEN COTTAGE

Due to match congestion with the women's teams at Craven Cottage we didn't kick off until 12:00pm which gave Bling Bling (Joachim Pereira) more time to check out the female talent that was playing on our pitch!

But the bad news was that Jason "Muster" Ogden was unable to play due to modeling commitments at the Prospect Store, so he kitted up into his RM gear and left at 12:15pm. This left us with 13 and Lee Martindale donning the gloves for his virgin appearance in goal.

Coach Dunstall found his boots (apparently the dog had them) and sat on the bench with Drogba. But we did have the return of the Columbian connection.

We kicked off into strong wind and managed to keep the Fulham side to shooting from long range. We attacked on numerous occasions but failed to deliver crosses with any conviction.

With the last touch of the first half a magical cross from Jason Cook was headed, yes headed, passed the keeper by Bling Bling to make it 1-0 Farm at half time.

Coach Dunstall came on in the second half and started running around like a 16 year old!! Eventually he was tumbled over in the box and the home town ref awarded us a penalty, and with Vman giving the opportunity to Dunstall, who said "How good is this.." but refused, Cookie monster was first to run at the ref and grab the ball. Only running he did all day! But he did put the ball in the net to make it 2-0 Farm.

Fulham started to push at our defence but was still held to only shooting from outside the 18 yard box. Drogba (Darren the Brus) made a welcome appearance with 15 to go, but managed to get himself a blood nose and had to go off after only 5 minutes.

Then with the last kick of the game, the ball was squared for Bling Bling to steal it from Bancroft to be one on one with the keeper and fire it in for 3-0. A good display all round and well worth the 3 points.

Another stellar defensive effort to give Lee a clean sheet, and a story to tell his grandchildren one day.

Our season is back on track as we move into 2nd spot. Not sure if Bling Bling got any phone numbers, but he did refuse to shower with the rest of the team.

Coach Dunstall was again a happy man and was heard to say "Looks like another f@#$ing crap season for the Hawks"

This week we entertain bottom Modbury Vista, who won their first game on the weekend. Should be another chance to increase our goal difference, if we play like we did on Sunday.

Final score: Fulham 0, Ingle Farm 3.

ROUND 12
INGLE FARM vs MODBURY VISTA
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JULY 9th, 2006

INGLE FARM C's CLOCK UP THIRD WIN IN A ROW

Bottom placed Modbury Vista visited us today at Walkley Park, where a 90 km gale was blowing down the ground.

We all rocked up at 10:30am - but had to wait for coach Dunstall (who rocked up at 11:05) with the kit! Only change to the team was Tuyen who was relegated from the Reserves - for getting TOO MUCH game time.

We had just enough time to walk on to the pitch before referee Perkins blew his whistle to start the game.

We kicked off up hill and into the 90km gale. Another great defensive effort kept the Vista team to long shots, none of which actually hit the target. We looked to control the game but never really threaten to score as we pushed the ball around.

Then injuries strike. Cookie goes off with a twisted ankle and Dazza cops one in the face and ends up with a broken nose!

We regroup as coach Dunstall comes on and we hold out for a 0 - 0 half time score.

Going down hill we start to pepper the goals then a nice move by Josh McQueen who crosses the ball for Vman to score from 6 yards.

Five minutes later its 3 - 0 as two great crosses from Alex Bautista sees Vman score his 2nd and 3rd with quality headers. The Vista keeper was keeping them in the game with some great saves, or was it poor shot selection?

Coach Dunstall has to drag Vman as he's scoring too many goals and Drogba comes on. We seem to lose some momentum and the game ends up as another 3 - 0 win.

We had a lot of the ball today and some of our passing was top drawer, but we failed to take many of our chances when they came our way, which could have given us an even better result.

Lee "Bartez" Martindale kept his 2nd clean sheet (more stories to tell his grand childrens' grand children) and he was more concerned with the heckling from behind the goals than he was with the Vista shots.

Another good team effort as we march toward top spot, but still with hard games to come. No game this week so a chance to give our injured players a have a break. Well done to Darren Bancroft who played on bravely in the second half to contribute to the final result.

Special mention to Cookie who donated 2 match balls to the C's and came out in his new bling bling golden boots, but where have our ORANGES gone???

Coach Dunstall looked dazed and was heard to say " I thought we kicked off 12:00 today!"

Thanks to Lee "Poll" Perkins for reffing and allowing both Alex and Edwin to stay on the park for the whole game

PS .. numerous queries about crowd favourite Jason "Muster" Ogden, he had a cold, and a sick note from his mum.

Good luck to A's and B's for this weeks CUP ROUND.

ROUND 13
INGLE FARM vs ISC RAPTORS
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JULY 23rd, 2006

4th win in a row as C's go top

Ingle Farm C's entertained the ISC Raptors in the early game at Walkley Park and coach Dunstall was there to greet us nice and early this week.

We looked like the Reserve team in the first half and should have been 6 - 0 up at half time. Our passing was sublime, but again our finishing let us down.

We managed to score four - 2 to Dazza and singles to Vinnie and new dad, Vu.

Second half changes may have been the reason for our dour display and failure to score in what could end up costing us the title as it may come down to goal difference. At one stage we had 3 forwards passing the ball to each other inside their 18 yard box so much, that I felt like getting some cones out for them. Vinnie Evans - "Big fish in a small pond" - Paul Simpson

In the end, my frustration led to countless runs into attack with 1 shot deflected for a corner, and another hitting the cross bar. Then with the final touch of the game my header from 18 yards out was ruled offside. Soccer can be a cruel game!!!

But enough about me, it was by far our easiest game and we blew a real chance to rack up a 10 - 0 win. One supporter was heard to say, " That was the most boring game I've ever seen," ... and he's a Power fan!

Again we had 17 players and no keeper, Lee never touched the ball in the first half, while Neil, our shortest keeper to date, made one "catch", and had one cleared off the line for him. Our defence was rock solid and again conceded nothing for the 3rd week in a row. We now have 4 games left, all against teams 3rd - 6th on the ladder.

Coach Dunstall dropped himself due to player numbers, but must return for this weeks game against TTG. Neil bought the C's a new match ball, thus ensuring he got a game, so we may see another 6 brand new match balls presented for our next home game. Rumour has it that Bling Bling may come out to training this week... we wait with bated breath.

Coach Dunstall was again a happy man and was heard to say "this coaching gig is not too hard after all."

PS.. Anto has some nice shots of Jason "K-Mart" Ogdon changing at half time, he may sell them to Womans Day.

ROUND 14
TEA TREE GULLY vs INGLE FARM
TILLEY RESERVE
SUNDAY, JULY 30th, 2006

Farm's Neil Newman heads the ball clear during the 1st half... CLICK TO ENLARGEC's STAY TOP WITH 5th STRAIGHT WIN

Dunstall's C's travelled up the Golden Grove Way to play 2nd place Tea Tree Gully, not Tea Tree Plaza, where Tuyen Vu went.

It was a cold crisp winters day with a gale blowing down the ground. We played on the bottom pitch which looked in very good condition, even if it was small.

Today's guest player was Anthony Martini, which also attracted a small crowd of 10 or so
supporters to the game. Once we were able to find him his lucky number shirt, some shorts with string and some deep heat, he was ready to play.

We had 6 on the bench (but could only use 3) as well as Mr Bean, who rocked up too late to get
on the card. We kicked off into the gale, and were under attack from the start. We didn't seem switched on and our passing was all over the place .. not to mention lack of talk.

The game seemed to be played in the centre corridor, which wasn't easy considering the size of the pitch.

Then Alex Bautista does a hamy after 15 minutes, and is replaced with TTP Twin. We try to keep our shape as we hold TTG out.

Then controversy as TTG have the ball in the net with a well taken goal, only to see the linesman holding his flag up, and the goal disallowed. TTG players abuse both linesman and ref before play is restarted.

We had our only real chance of the half when Kanu cuts inside the 18 yard box ..only to blast it straight at the keeper.

Half time arrives and we've done well to hold it to 0 - 0 in a very fast and physical game.

Second half and kicking with the gale we seem to look more determined and start to pass the ball around and create chances. Players from both teams start to drop from crunching tackles as the tempo builds.

Coach Dunstall brings himself on, to the roars of the crowd. Our defense is holding up really well with TTG not offering much up front, but we still cant score.

Finally the ball makes its way through a jungle of players to find Anto 10 yards out with only the keeper to beat, and as he hesitates and asks the keeper what he had for breakfast, his shot is deflected past the keeper by the oncoming defender.. 1 - 0 Farm.

Again the TTG team abuse the linesman, but this time its their own linesman. With 10 minutes to go we have a chance to make it 2 - 0 as my sweetly struck volley is sensationally saved by the keeper's legs.

The final whistle blows and we hold on to take the 3 points, to the roar of the crowd and players.

Our 5th win in a row and 4th clean sheet in a row. A good all round performance in probably our toughest game of the year. A few good saves from Richard and some great defending backed up by some hard running from the midfield and forwards.

We stay on top, with Munno Para kicking at our heals with their game in hand and better goal difference. Today was our first game with a official ref, who was duly smacked in the bollocks by a wayward ball (could have been a shot from Vinnie.)

We now have 3 games left, and need GOALS to take out the title, as we entertain 3rd-placed Pontian Eagles this week before a 2 week break for our bye and Cup Round.

Special thanks to Simo who came down to support us and ran the line. Anto was heard to say "where's the ORANGES and the deep heat ?" !!!!

Coach Dunstall was all smiles and praised his teams efforts and asked if anyone had a pair of boots he could borrow for next weeks game?

 ROUND 15
INGLE FARM vs PONTIAN
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, AUGUST 6th, 2006

VINNIE MISSES PENALTY AS C's STEAL 3 POINTS AT HOME

The mighty C's entertained Pontian Eagles on very warm winters morning, who for the second year running, brought the biggest goal keeper I've ever seen. I think he ate Belly for breakfast.

Again it was a cast of 1000's. Anto Martini decided not to play with us again until new string was found for the shorts, Jason "Cookie Monster" Cook returned from his stint with the Thunderbirds netball team, crowd favourite Jason "Oggy" Ogden had finished his modeling shoot with "Target" and we picked up Johnny "The Bench" Miller from the Reserves. Even Richard Bales turned up for the game.

Pre match controversy as the Eagle's team set up camp on "our" side of the pitch even using "our" bench for their fans to sit on. They soon moved across the pitch as we camped around them.

Alex received a very nice pre match rub down in the change rooms, by his old man trying to ensure he was fit to play after pulling his hami last week. Bugger all good it did him, he lasted just 40 seconds and had to be replaced with Tea Tree Plaza Tuyen.

The Eagles were a very strong and physical team and enjoyed kicking down hill with the sun at their backs. They looked like they could score every time they ventured into our half, but like so many other teams before them, they forgot that you need to shoot to score.

Then Referee "Poll" Perkins awards them a free kick 25 yards out. The kick is gently placed into the top left hand corner as Richard decides he doesn't want to dirty his gloves as he watches the ball hit the back of the net.

Then another injury ... Brendan Fagan limps off with yet another hami strain. These youngsters really don't know how to look after themselves!!! God knows who replaced him, too many subs to mention. We remained at 1-0 till half time.

Coach Dunstall asked the question "Do we want to win this league?" ..Then went on to say "Well we've got 45 minutes to make it happen."

Out we went with our season on the line. The game seemed to be stale mating as the ball never ventured in to either 18 yard box, as the Eagles tried every reason in the book to waste time, to the annoyance of both ref and players.

Then more controversy as Vinnie is brought down in the box and Ref Poll points to the spot. Vinnie chooses his spot and tries to place it past the zeppelin keeper, only to see the keeper fall the correct way and parry his shot around the post. Have we just seen our season evaporate before our eyes?

We continue to attack as the Eagles begin to tire then even more controversy as an Eagle player is sent off for head butting (or attempting to) Mark Preka. Abuse flies as we try and get on with the game. Then a "Shaki" cross is headed to the back post where Vinnie redeems himself with a very scrappy goal that bounced over the keepers legs as he fell the wrong way. 1-1 and we were back in it with 10 minutes to go.

Ref Poll was starting to show some authority by now as yellow cards were shown for bad tackles. Then with only 3 minutes to go a mad scramble from a corner and the ball falls to Mark Preka whose shot heads straight for the keepers guts, only to see his defender stick out a boot and deflect it past him to make it 2-1 to the roar of players and crowd.

The Eagles are now frustrated and hurry the ball back for the restart.

The final whistle finally blows and we walk off knowing we still have a chance of winning the league. Our third tough game in a row, and extends our winning streak to 6 on the trot. I think Keeper Bales only had 2 shots at him, and we only had 3 shots ourselves!!

The stand out player for Farm was Johnny "The Bench" Miller who played both midfield and defense as we kept rotating players due to injury.

Coach Dunstall refrained from bringing himself on, sources close to me say the tape around his boots had broken.. hmmm!

Referee Lee "Poll" Perkins handed out 4 yellows and a red to keep the game interesting. Can we afford to buy him a refs top so he can really look like he's in charge? Well done Lee.

Sad to report, I had no shots at goal this week, for those keeping stats.

We now have a 2 week break due to Cup round and our Div 9 bye, enough time for our injured players to either recover or retire.

Only 2 games left and we need Munno Para to draw one of their last three games in order to take the title.

This could well be my longest report, and may well be if I dribble on a bit more at the end. Don't know if there are any pictures of our game, but if so lets hope they are closer than the pictures that were taken from the moon at last weeks TTG game!

Well done lads.........

Sorry I lost the photos to this match !!?? - Ed

ROUND 16 - BYE

ROUND 17
INGLE FARM vs MACEDONIA
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, AUGUST 27th, 2006

C team played a disappointing 4 - 4 draw with Macedonia. The score line went 1-0, miss,1-1, 1-2, HT, miss, miss, 2-2, 3-2, miss, 3-3 miss, 4-3, 4-4, miss, miss, miss.. and on it went....

And when I say "miss" I mean 6 yard box with only the keeper / or no keeper to beat!!!

We also rested players as we had 8 on the bench, but the crowd was let down with the no show of Graham Elrick for the game.

Lee "Hair" Perkins awarded the most ridiculous penalty of the year, one that confused both teams, but by then it should have been 6-3 and not 3-2.

Rumour had it that the ball had been tampered with which would explain why we couldn't score from inside the 6 yard box and at one stage we were refusing to come back out for the second half.

So with one game to go, we end our third year in a row as brides maids, which surely gives coach Dunstall a reason to come back next year to give us a shot at the Div 8 title...

Special mention to Richard Bales who misjudged the 4th goal as his beard got in his eyes as he tried to catch the ball, unquote!

Good luck to the A's and B's as they play off for the championship this weekend.

ROUND 18
LIMNOS vs INGLE FARM (FORFEIT)
GRANGE
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd, 2006

C's traveled West to play LIMNOS. As it was a dead rubber, we moved the team around and played Jason "RM" Ogden and Darren "Bean" Brus up front and left Vinnie and Dazza on the bench, while Kanu was "thrown" in goals as he's 'bugger all' use up front these days.

And what a response we got, after a dull 85 minutes, Jason scored what could be contender for "goal of the season" an absolute rocket from 35 yards that left the keeper standing as it burst the net.

And if that wasn't enough, with virtually the last kick of the match Darren nutmegged the keeper from 5 yards out, after great work from Neil Newman who went past 5 players before his mistimed shot found Darren loitering in front of goals. So it ended 2-0 and 2nd spot.

ACTUALLY I'm just taking the piss, LIMNOS forfeited, but at least had the courtesy to call and save us the petrol money. And this after our biggest C team turn out at training this year. So as it was last year, our season ended with a forfeit, and we had the weekend off, good for those of us who are fathers or mothers!

So another season comes to an abrupt end as we again finished second. A funny season where we lost our chance in game 1 where we only had 9 players and by game 16 we had 20 to chose from.

Rumour has it that the Limnos team were very one eyed Power supporters and after watching them get smashed by the Dockers on Saturday night they no longer had the will to play any kind of sport!!!

Congrats to the A's and B's who won the Div 2 titles with impressive wins on the weekend.

DON'T FORGET the medal count this Friday for night of drinks and laughs...

PS Jason paid me handsomely to get his name on the report and say he scored.
