INGLE Farm's makeshift 1st team were eliminated from the SAASL "Champion of Champions Series" on Sunday at Grange.
The first half was a tight, tough affair with both teams suffering with the 27 degree heat. Anthony Ragazzo was unlucky after half an hour when his 40 yard free kick hit the post and rolled along the goal line before the ball was cleared.
Colin Smith was comically sent off midway into the second half when a shot from 35 yards smacked the Farm goalkeeper in the face, which was adjudged to have been hand ball 30 yards out from Farm's goal. It would be fair to say the Farm veteran was unimpressed with the referee's decision.
The match then went into extra time where Ricky Simpson missed a glaring chance from 5 yards in the 94th minute, before Wanderers took the lead after a good run in the 101st minute.
After the break, the Saturday Division 2 Champions scored a second goal, before Torsten Rutter replied for Farm with 5 minutes remaining.
Farm pushed well up and were punished with a third Wanderers goal at the death. The final result 3 - 1 to Wanderers.
Best for Farm: Anthony Staltari, Mario Staltari, Brendan Altus, Leon Hannessen
