2006 SEASON - saasl division 2

B TEAM MATCH REPORT

ROUND 13
INGLE FARM vs PARA HILLS EAST
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JULY 23rd, 2006

Ingle Farm's outstanding Reserves team had another impressive victory over sixth-placed Para Hills East Reserves today at Walkley Park . The gritty 2 - 0 win lifts the team into second position with five matches remaining this season.

Peter King was a victim of the ladies wine tour (he had to baby sit) however Trevor Bradbrook came into the squad to replace the dynamic little midfielder. Ryan Anderson was also not available this week.

The match opened evenly with both teams engaged in a tight arm wrestle. Vahid Rahmani, Peter Bria and Mark Faulkner were doing well in Farm's engine room, while Duy Tran and Jason Keep were rock-solid in Farm's defence.

The first half remained goalless as the two teams seemed content to size each other up.

Halftime: Ingle Farm 0, Para Hills East 0.

After the break, Andy Lynn was introduced for Daniel Giorgetti as Farm looked to step up the pace.

Peter Bria fluffed a one-on-one opportunity having got in behind East's defence in the 55th minute.

Sublime Vahid Rahmani came more into the match early in the second half. The silky-skilled midfielder made the opposition look second rank with some clever touches.

In the 60th minute, Farm broke the deadlock. Bria clinically beat the East offside trap, then cleverly set up Jarrad Rich for an easy tap in from 5 yards after 60 minutes. 1 - 0 to Farm.

Impressive Bria then earned Farm a penalty two minutes later when another cross was handled by an East defender inside the defensive 18 yard box. Penalty!

Jarrad Rich stepped up to knock in his 2nd of the match - his 17th of the season! 2 - 0 to Farm.

Apart from one hiccup, where East missed a good chance late in the game, Farm held out the opposition quite well for the remaining minutes.

Good performances came from Rahmani, Bria, Jason Keep, Duy Tran, Sean Robertson and Jarrad Rich.

Farm's Reserves Coach, Brian Toomer later said he was "Very pleased with the way our players played."

"We were the better team, and the final score was a just result."

With Limnos losing to second-bottom Bosna, Farm jump into second place, trailing top team Vista by just one point with 5 matches remaining in the league.

Final Score: Ingle Farm 2, Para Hills East 0.
