ROUND 15
INGLE FARM vs ADELAIDE LIMNOS
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JULY 30th, 2006
Ingle Farm's Reserves had another solid 2-0 win over West Beach Reserves in the 1:00pm match at Walkley Park.
In perfect sunny conditions, Farm opened sharply. The home team had West Beach on the back foot from the start.
A good run forward by Peter King in the 34th minute set up Farm's opener. King set up Daniel Giorgetti who hammered a shot from 20 yards past the Beach keeper. 1-0 to Farm.
Peter Bria enjoyed a fine first half for Farm. Bria had a shot well kept out in the 40th minute when the midfielder hammered a volley at goal from 25 yards.
Halftime: Ingle Farm 1 West Beach 0.
After the break, in a light-hearted moment, smallest man on the park, Peter King "hacked" down Beach's six foot seven diving giant Danny McCombie. The two players enjoyed a laugh before getting on with the match.
Farm continued to attack in the second half. Young as ever Peter King combined with Peter Bria to set up Jarrad Rich who narrowly missed for Farm in the 52nd minute.
Unlucky substitute Andy Lynn was brought on and almost immediately had a golden opportunity to increase Farm's lead.
The big striker was striding clear to be one-on-one with Beach's keeper only to frustratingly lay the ball off to another Farm player who could not meet Lynn's wayward pass.
Lynn in the 68th minute redeemed himself when he put in a magnificent cross that found Vahid Rahmani who headed the ball onto the crossbar, before bicycle kicking the rebound over the top for Farm.
Tireless defender, Duy Tran, set up Farm's second goal in the 75th minute. The gritty little player crossed to the far post where he found Jarrad Rich who smashed home his 18th goal of the season from 5 yards out. 2-0 to Farm.
Farm had more chances to put polish on the final scoreline. Notably Peter Bria missed a good chance in the 80th minute, while substitute Sean Robertson tried an uncanny bicycle kick from 15 yards out.
Another good win by Farm's rampaging Reserves team. Coach Brian Toomer later said "It was a good performance, particularly from our defence. We created a lot of chances that we didn't capitalize on."
Quizzed on next week's away quarter final match with West Beach, Toomer responded "We look forward to again meeting West Beach, and go into the match with confidence."
Final Score: Ingle Farm 2, West Beach 0.
