2006 SEASON - saasl division 9

C TEAM MATCH REPORT

ROUND 2
INGLE FARM vs FULHAM
WALKLEY PARK, INGLE FARM
SUNDAY, APRIL 9, 2006

Ingle Farm C's entertained Fulham who travelled 17,000 kms to get here after their game against Sunderland was postponed. They also left Boa Morte and Malbranque behind in case their one Australian supporter, Vman, tried to kidnap them.

But they did bring what must have been the smallest keeper to ever visit Ingle Farm, made Kingie look like a giant. They say a week in soccer is a long time, but how a result can change when you have a full squad.

This week we had 14 players with the return of Vman, out on parole, Brendan Fagan, back after taking 12 months off to study for his "L"s and guest appearance of the J man (Josh McQueen) unavailable for the B's.

We kicked off up hill and looked in control from the outset, pushing the ball around and moving it from defence to attack. We had Dazza Van Der Sarr in goals and he looked so good in his orange top that the Fulham team decided not to even shoot at goal in case he got dirty.

By half time it was 3-0, with the highlight being Vman getting a kick up the backside from a Fulham player.

Half time chat and bags of oranges then back out to reduce last weeks goal difference. Cookie was full of running up front and twice beat the keeper from outside 18 yards and finished the game with 4 goals.

Fulham started to get frustrated and argue as we knocked in four 2nd half goals to win 7-0. We should have won by more as many shots went high into Koala country as everyone tried to chip the 3 foot keeper, but 7 was a great result for our efforts.

With most now training twice a week we ran the game out to the end and looked by far the fitter team. Our tight defence kept them out of the 18 yard box which meant Dazza only touched the ball twice while there were goals to Cookie 4, J-man 2 and Vman 1.

An exceptional performance all round that makes us 8-8 in the goal count now and back in the hunt. Well done lads. I don't know who BOG is, but as we dont have a BOG sponsor (maybe R.M.Williams are interested?) I'll donate my copy of the Sunday Mail to him.

Special thanks to Edwin who gave up his spot on the team to be ref for the game.
