2006-7 A-league grand final

6 - 0 VICTORY IN GRAND FINAL
19 / 2 / 2007

ADELAIDE United could not get into the game as Melbourne Victory smashed the Reds 6-0 at Telstra Dome in front of 55,436 people on Sunday Night.

The Red Army leaves The Celtic Club.. begins its march.

Victory deserved their win as they outplayed United for 90 minutes all over the park. Archie Thompson stole the show for Victory as the agile striker smacked home an incredible 5 goals to help his team to a resounding win.

The city of Melbourne went crazy with celebration as their supporters sang and danced in the streets for hours after the game. The city was a buzz with a sea of blue as the Red Army quickly retreated to anywhere they could.

Ingle Farm had some of its own there for the match, making the trip included Lee Perkins, Jaqui Pomery, Jay Perkins, John Miller, Yours Truely, Dave Howell, Andy Thompson, Matt Flynn (who won tickets in the Advertiser comp!) who was accompanied by his girlfriend.

However at the match the Adelaide supporters were unable to find voice as the match seemed over midway into the 1st half as Adelaide captain Ross Aloisi was sent off with his team two goals down.

Earlier it had promised to be a terrific day for the 4500 Red faithful. Meeting at The Celtic Club on LaTrobe street, United's supporters drank and sang in a dress rehersal for the main event. Singing was well under way before midday at the pub.

Around 3pm , the Army regrouped to form a magnifcent sea of red as they marched as one, down the hill and over the bridge to magnificent Telstra Dome.

On Satuday Night, pockets of supporters could be found around the city, the Ingle Farm lads met up with some boys from Para Hills East and partied into the night.

However the result was deflating to the redded supporters at Telstra Dome as the much anticipated Grand Final turned out to be one of the most one-sided results of the A-League season.

My view of the match just before kick off. Second half and Utd are well beaten under Telstra's lit up stage.
That's right, this is Johnny Miller. Here we see him leading the Red Army down LaTrobe Street.
