RAMSAY PARK
TUESDAY NIGHT , APRIL 10TH, 2007
A TEAM REPORT
Ingle Farm fought back from going down an early goal to eventually draw with Playford's Reserve team 1-1 at Ramsay Park tonight.
Playing at Playford's ground in perfect conditions the match started at a lightning pace.
Playford had the better opening, dominating possession as Farm appeared to be troubled by their younger opponent's pace. The home team created numerous early openings beating Farm's offside trap repeatedly.
It was therefore no surprise when Playford took the lead after 25 minutes. The Patriots striker got in behind Farm's defence and beat Farm keeper Robbie Greenwood from a narrow angle. 1-0 Playford.
Missing several key players for the match, Farm were struggling badly during the 1st half. Farm's rock in defence Chris Ennis had to leave the field after an awkward landing sent a scare through the camp after 15 minutes.
It was a poor first half for Farm that made few inroads. However Brad Donovan, Anthony Ragazzo, Leon Hannessen and Dave Ennis all tried hard and created several opportunities.
Halftime: Playford 1 Ingle Farm 0.
After the break, stand in coach Alan Leadbeater made several changes with the introduction of Torsten Rutter who returned after an illness while former goal sneak Peter Bria also came on. Both players had a positive effect during the second half. Big Chris Ennis also returned after the break for Farm and played extremely well in defence.
Farm dominated after half time. The team played an improved style of soccer and held its shape much better that saw it enjoy the majority of possession.
Farm created many chances in the opening 20 minutes of the second half, however it's final ball and its finishing was very sour. Farm blew several good chances to draw the team level after some fine lead up play.
So it was a relief when finally in the 70th minute Torsten Rutter completed a successful return to the team by cleverly turning a defender and delivering a perfect cross for well positioned Dave Ennis who tapped the ball into the onion bag from close range. 1-1.
Farm continued to have the better of the possession during the second half, however Playford seemed to work Farm goalkeeper Robbie Greenwood more than Farm had worked the Playford keeper.
Greenwood made two tremendous saves to spare Farm its blushes as the Patriots youthful, fast team continued to trouble Farm at the back. Playford also missed two more good chances as headers went over the crossbar late in the game.
Farm continued to squander its opportunities until the end, notably Ricky Simpson, Brad Donovan, Peter Bria, Fernando Lara, Marty Lara and Dave Ennis all had chances to score but failed to hit the target.
Final score: Playford Reserves 1 Ingle Farm 1.
B TEAM REPORT
Ingle Farm's Andy Lynn scored a goal in the final few seconds to secure a hard-fought 2-1 win over Playford's under 19's tonight at Ramsay Park.
The first half was a real arm-wrestle. Playford's young players certainly took the challenge up to their more experienced opponents.
Andy Lynn and Vahid Rahmani were battling hard in the midfield, Jason Keep and Duy Tran were playing well at the back while Daniel Giorgetti was the most dangerous striker on the park.
However some selfish play up front for Farm meant that very few chances were created. The non-existance of a good final ball through to team mates saw the ball turned over again and again. The chances that were made ended with some good goal keeping from both keepers that kept the half goalless.
Halftime 0-0.
Farm brought on Jason Walker and Jarrad Rich after the break and immediately Farm looked a better team. Now attacking with purpose, Farm looked dangerous everytime they went forward.
Ten minutes into the second half Farm took the lead. A fine through ball from Duy Tran found bounding Daniel Giorgetti who finished well with a volley over the keeper's head from 20 yards. 1-0 to Farm.
Soon after Farm conceded a silly goal when a terrible mix up between Michael Francken and Jason Walker gifted Playford an equalizer from 10 yards. 1-1.
The two teams continued to battle for the rest of the half before clever play from Farm's Andy Lynn in the 18 yard box saw the player find some space before he coolly finished for the winner seconds from the end.
Final score: Playford U19's 1 Ingle Farm 2.
