Liam PowneyIngle Farm chairman Jason Walker was tonight interviewed live on air by Coast FM - who were interested in finding out more about Liam Powney's progress, while wondering what they could do to help raise money for Gavin Powney and his family in this their time of need.

Noticing the thread on the popular South Australian soccer forum footballnews.com.au, then following the link through to this site, the Coast FM "Sportscap Crew" learned of Gavin Powney's plight - where the family remains stranded in Sydney, while caring for their sick 18 month old lad, Liam.

The Coast FM Thursday Night Sportscap crew have vowed to help raise more money for this wonderful cause. Over the next three weeks, the community radio station will inject a wave of publicity on air to help raise funds for the embattled Powney family.

Coast FM LogoIt was a terrific gesture from the Sportscap Crew, who make a point every week to help someone from the local community on their show. Liam's story has certainly touched many hearts right across Adelaide.

Since we first published the story on inglefarmsoccerclub.com 2 months ago, the response from the local community has been staggering.

RM Williams and The Settlers Tavern both chipped in and donated prizes that were raffled off, the generous Ingle Farm lads within the club reached in their pockets to add what they could, before local rival Modbury Vista Soccer Club stunned us all by generously donating their entire BBQ takings from their home trial match against Farm two weeks ago.

Now with Coast FM's support, momentum has taken off once again. In a ten minute on-air interview, club chairman Jason Walker spoke of how the club plans to raise more money.

Walker informed the Sportscap Crew that the fundraising drive will be done at Ingle Farm's first home match of the season - when Farm host Salisbury Inter, in SAASL Division 1, Round 2 on Sunday the 22nd of April at Walkley Park.

In a lovely gesture, Coast FM's Sportscap Crew pledged two of their representatives to attend the Inter match to help the worthy cause. Walker stated that the club will also be sending out letters to former players at the club to attend this match in a show of support.

The Sportscap Crew can be heard on 88.7 Coast FM on Thursday Nights from 6pm - 8pm.

If you want to listen in and live in the northern suburbs (as most of us do) - you are probably better off to listen online. Windows Media Player does not feed - so you firstly need to download Winamp (6MB download).. then you will be able to listen through this streaming LINK.
