C TEAM MATCH REPORT

ROUND 1
WEST BEACH vs INGLE FARM
LOCKLEYS OVAL
SUNDAY, MAY 25, 2008

On a fine and sunny morning, Ingle Farm C1’s team ventured its way down to West Beach or the Lockleys billiard table. Due to several players being rested in the A’s and B’s and some late withdrawals, the C1’s struggle to field 11 players. Special thanks to Simmo for scheduling our keeper to work so Coach Anto, who was servery hung over from his bucks show the previous night, decided to don the gloves and take the field.

Due to the Beach Ressies playing a cup game, kick off was brought forward by 30 minutes and with a few players struggling from the previous night, not to mention yours truly who had only managed to get 4 hours sleep and so the strips, water bottles and coach were no were to be seen at 10:25am. But I managed to get there and the boys all kitted up and went out to warm up. Unfortunately due to coach Anto still being heavily intoxicated he forgot to bring the balls so the players stood around listening to stories about the previous nights entertainment.

From the kick off the Farm were well on top and dominated from the first minute to the ninetieth. The Farm, who only had Marty “The General” Lara from the reserves, were passing the ball around with grace for the first half. The first 10 minutes the Farm were feeling the water and created a few half chances, but Liam “one in a million” Allen, whose missing in front of goal ration is starting to look like a cricket score, darted between two defenders, drifted into the box and hammered homes a well struck goal. Relief for One in a million and 1-0 to the Farm.

For the next 10 minutes the Farm would continue to dominate with Marty “The General” Lara and “The Hammer Stoichkov” Pierre controlling the game in the middle of the park. There passing and tireless running was tearing the Beach apart. The Farm was creating many chances and the ball was darting through the Beach defence like ping pongs and a Thailand Call Girl. It would not be long before the Farm would strike again, this time through some poor keeping that allow David Benjamin who easily tapped the ball into the net. 2-0 to the Farm and they were coasting.

Just before half time the Farm would sneak a third goal through the ever working Marty Lara who scored a deserving goal.

3-0 at half time, all players playing very well except for Coach Anto who spent most of the half leaning against the post glaring into the blue sky thinking what am I doing in goals I should be in bed.

After a quick half time speech, the troops we ready to fire a few more cannons at the Beach.

The second half started as well as the first, but the Beach had made some structural changes which strengthened there team in defence. The Farm found it a little hard to break the Beach defence for the first 10 minutes until “Lightening Bolt” Tim Fisher entered the arena. Coach Anto, moved Disco Stuart up from on took off the “Heavily Hung over” Twin who had had a very good game.

A comedy of errors would see a clearance by Captain Lee who attempted to save a corner kick the ball into his face and out for, you guessed it, a corner. The resulting corner would see Coach Anto miss judge the corner as his attempted punch in the air, saw the ball float over him and off the knee of the Beach coach and into the back of the net. 3-1. Who on earth knows what Anto was thinking but if you saw the shows from the previous night you too would still be day dreaming.

For the next 15 minutes the beach would come back into play and start to move the ball around.

Tim “The Dart” Fisher and Disco Stuart linked up to give Disco a one-on-one chance that he slotted very well. 4-1 to the Farm and the Beach new they would not come back from here.

Minutes later, Disco Stuart would see another cross for Tim Fisher be fumbled by the keeper and Disco tapped the ball into the net. 5-1 and game over.

At this point I was starting to hallucinate due to lack of sleep and heavy dehydration and could record little of the remaining game. The Farm did dominate and created a few more chances.

The game finished 5-1 and Coach Anto’s first win in his short coaching career. He survives another week. Great game by all players, everyone played very well especially Marty “The General” Lara, “The Hammer Stoichkov” Pierre, “Cool Calm” Alex Batista and Liam “one in a million” Allen.

Not bad effort considering a few players were not holding up very well.

C TEAM MATCH REPORT

ROUND 2 (CATCHUP GAME)
INGLE FARM vs ELIZABETH DOWNS C2
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, JUNE 22, 2008

A gloomy overcast Sunday at Walkley Park greeted Farm’s faithful to say farewell to Twininho for his 6 years service at the club. Nobody would have guessed that both Timmy Fischer and Jarrydinho were the emotional type. They couldn’t hold in their tears while helping the club prepare the BBQ.

Manager Walker way of thanking Twininho for his contribution is by starting him upfront with Nickasaka. Half of the C Team squad is filled with C2 star players. Cristiano is positioned behind the strikers. Jarrydinho and Fishman are on the left and right wings respectively. Last but not least C2’s number 1 Van Der Shannon is in goal for Farm's C Team.

Elizabeth Downs are kicking down hill in the first half. Immediately they tested out Van Der Shannon’s reflexs. The talented young keeper out stretching an arm to deny the visitor’s good early effort.

Farm instantly replied with Fishman outpacing the last defender down the wing before he unselfishly squared the ball to Twininho for an easy tap in goal. 1-0.

A few minutes later Fishman orchestrated and completed another move by himself when his quick feet passed 2 players before blasting the ball into the net. 2-0.

Shortly after Fishman was once again at the end of a great cross. 3-0.

Since the Farm young guns were 3 goals in front and the game was completely under control, the match official started to get technical. Linesman Lee flagged for offside to deny Farm’s fourth goal. Apparently according to Lee, when a goal keeper was not the last man then the attacking player must be behind 2 defenders to be onside. However, can a player still be offside when the cross was a backward pass? Should the goal still stand if the offside player touched the ball after it was already crossed the line?

Twininho returns the favour to manager/midfielder Walker for playing him upfront with a perfect cut back ball inside the 18 yards box, however Walker either felt sorry for the visitors or still in defence mind set because he blasted the 12 yard shot wide for a goal kick.

It is beyond anyone’s comprehension why Elizabeth Downs agreed to interchange - they only had 11 players. (Its called sportsmanship. -Ed) Disco Stu at left back is making way for former Watford player Dave. While Captain McQueen is going in for the Samba king Leo.

Captain McQueen makes his presence felt immediately with a turn of unexpected lightning speed saw him chase down a through ball, much like a Polar Bear after a penguin, before his equally impressive shot went through the goalkeeper’s hand increasing the Farm margin. 4-0. Unfortunately he pulled a hamstring in the process and was sidelined after 5 more minutes of play.

Samba king Leo resumed his position and shortly scored another goal for Farm. Farm finishes the first half 6 nil with Fischer 2, Twininho 2, McQueen 1 and Leo 1.

Halftime: Ingle Farm 6 Elizabeth Downs C2 0.

Now Farm is kicking down hill but Elizabeth Down C2 team show fighting spirit. Even though the visitors have been out played, they didn’t give up, so full credit to them. It took the Farm a good 20 minutes after the restart to find the net again.

Fishman was the first player to grab a hat trick - he eventually finished the game with 4 goals. Other players in the hat trick club are Samba king Leo and Twininho.

Farm won by 13 nil so it’s easier to report the memorable moments of the second half...

Twininho’s cross found Walker for another chance at goal. Unfortunately, Walker’s attempted at goal just further solidified his position in the C team.

Down’s goalkeeper was ordinary all day. However, he out witted Brendan Fagan from a penalty kick. The visitor’s goalkeeper stood near the right post before the spot kick which is an invitation for Fagan to shoot at the empty space of the goal. Fagan took up the challenge and blasted it straight down the middle of the goal which was well blocked by the goalkeeper.

The goal of the match is going to Jarrydinho. A great run then smashing finish for his first C Team goal.

For those pessimistic half-emptied-glass kinds of persons, C1 should have scored more than 13 goals. On the other hand, well done lads!

ROUND 3
ELIZABETH VALE vs INGLE FARM
MOFFLIN ROAD
SUNDAY, APRIL 20, 2008

Missed this game, but my spy, well I got it from the horses mouth actually, was that Mr Martini aka da Cat was a little ordinary in goal that may well have cost the C Team a win in the morning match at Mofflin Road.

The C Team apparently did quite well and played the better soccer on the day.

C Team coach Anthony Martini will write us a report to explain what happened.

The score was a 2-2 draw - not a bad result really on paper, but nobody's talking to Anto. :)

PLYMPTON FORFEITED - A 2-0 WIN TO THE C'S

ROUND 5 MISSING

ROUND 6
INGLE FARM vs PARAFIELD GARDENS
WALKLEY PARK
SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2008

The undefeated Ingle Farms C1’s came up against an under par Parafield Gardens side that was yet to put any points into the bank for the season. With a goal average 4 for and 22 against before the game, it would seem the C1’s side, stacked with reserves squad members, should take the 3 points. To the Gardens credit, this would not eventuate.

Kick off was delayed as the Gardens thought the game was at 11:30am instead of 11:15, this mishap would result in the game being shorted as the C1’s must be off the pitch by 12:50pm.

The C’s started the game the better side and seemed very comfortable on the ball, but they were unable to break the Gardens defence as the first 10 minutes was a stale mate of end to end balls with no shots on target.

In the 10th minute, Jamie Porter slotted a pin point pass to Leo who cleverly slipped a through ball to the running Liam Allen, his side foot shot mildly missed the post and careered into the side net.

Further stale mate football was played for the next 7 minutes as Ingle Farm really was not gelling very well. In the 17 minute, Paul Sanderson would stream down the left wing and play a lovely ball through to Leo for a one-on-one opportunity, Leo seemed to panic and his final touch was poor eventuating in him knocking the ball straight into the keeper.

Three minutes later, Lloyd Townsend picked up the ball in defence and slot a wonderful through ball for David Benjamin, who, with only the keeper to beat, ran straight into him and missed another good one-on-one chance. The Farm should have been 2-0 up at this stage but instead were struggling at 0-0.

In the 22nd minute, Liam received another good ball but his eventuating shot would sore over the bar from yards out. Liam was getting a lot of the ball but his finishing was eluding him.

The Farm should have been coasting 3-0 by this time when the Gardens picked up a silly free kick in the middle of the park. The eventuating long ball would be misjudged by Lloyd Townsend as the ball soar over his head to the waiting Garden striker who finished the ball well, 1-0 to the Gardens in the 25th minute of the game and against the run of play. Up until this time the Farm had little defending to do and Dave Barnes was yet to touch the ball.

The goal jolted the Farm, in the 26th minute Liam had a chance to level the score but he clobbered his one-on-one chance into the keeper and then miss the easy rebound and open goal. It would seem to not be Liam’s or the Farms day.

The remainder of the half would become a stale mate of poor football as the Gardens defended well to shut the half out. 1-0 to the Gardens at half time.

The second half started well for the Farm as they hit some good passes, but the eventuating shot was struck over the bar by Leo. The Farm, going down hill for the half would have the majority of the play. In the 60th minute, the Farm coach went for broke and changed the system to 3-4-3 to try and get that elusive goal. This would give the Farm a lot more of the play but they missed several easy chances to level the score, Liam missing the pick of the bunch missing another one-on-one.

In the 27th minute, Stuart Cafferty was brought down on the wing for a free kick. Liam would swing in a wonderful cross to Sando, who to the relief so the supports and coach, headed the ball home, 1-1. The goal lifted the Farm as the Gardens struggled for fitness, unfortunately the Farm would continue to miss easy chances.

Unfortunately the ref had to blow the whistle at 1pm just when the Farm seemed they would score another goal, but this should not have affected the result as the Farm should have sown the game up in the first half.

1-1as the Farm gave the Gardens there first point for the season. A very disappointing display of football given the players brought down from the reserves. The Farm should have easily won that game but instead players decided to play within themselves and not as a team. Best on ground was Jason Walker who tried all game. The Farm missed far too many chances and it is those misses that have cost them the wins in there past three games and probably a chance for the league.

It seems the coach’s head may be on the chopping block as the Farm players, coaches and Pres seek answers for the slow start to the season. Word around the BBQ was a particular Farm player has already offered his services for the job. It seems Anto has become the draw king, but draws don’t win leagues.

FINAL SCORE: Ingle Farm 1 Parafield Gardens 1.

ROUND 7
PARA HILLS WEST vs INGLE FARM
MANOR FARM OVAL
SUNDAY, MAY 25, 2008

Ingle Farm C1’s travelled to Para Hills West for the battle of the undefeated. The Farm was sitting 4th and the West 3rd it would certainly be a good battle on a small and bumpy pitch.

The Farm starting eleven was the strongest starting line up for the season with Jason ‘Moneghetti’ Keep, Lloyd ‘The Hammer’ Townsend, Hugo ‘Ronaldo’ or should I say Hugo “Tyson”, Jamie ‘Roberto Carlos’ Porter and Graham ‘The Gun’ Elrick promoted into the side from the Reserves (I bet you like that one Billy J ).

The game started off with both teams really seeing what each other had, the Farm were knocking the ball round well and seem to be the side that settle the quickest. The West, who should not be deceived by there size and stature, really put it to the Farm and tried to play some good football themselves.

‘Tyson’ Hugo started to dominate the game in his normal fashion and in the 10th minute ‘The Brazilian Samba’ Leo Durante combined well with ‘Tyson’ Hugo with a one-two combination resulting in Hugo’s shot narrowly missing the goal.

The resulting goal kick lead to a throw which appeared to be given in the wrong direction, while the Farm players stood staring at the ref waiting for him to point the other way, the cunning West did not wait for the ref, quickly throwing the ball into there centre midfielder who found himself with no one within 10 meters of him. He dribbled the ball for about 20 yards and cleverly chipped the Farm keeper from 30 yards out. A well taken goal and from all accounts a correct decision by the lineman and ref for the throw in. 1-0 to the West, against the run of play.

The Farm seemed to struggling up front as the strikers were not getting good service. In the 19th minute ‘The Brazilian Samba’ Leo was substituted for Liam ‘The V’ Allen. The substitute almost paid dividends with ‘The V’s’ Liam first touch, but unfortunately his left foot strike come off the side of his boot and just wide of the goal.

In the 30th minute ‘The Hammer’ Lloyd would collect the ball from inside the Farm’s 18 yards box, and proceed to run down the right wing, his run would have similarities of Peter Dacos famous run for Collingwood. Lloyds box to box run would result in a missed timed cross and a poor result for a great run. The resulting West goal kick would come straight down the other end and have the West striker running on goal, little did he know that the ‘The Hammer’ Lloyd was steaming behind him and with a perfect timing tackle hit the ball out and crunched the striker. From all accounts the crunch of the tackle could be heard down Main North Road. Good display of football from ‘The Hammer’.

In the 41st minute Lloyd played a long ball to the ‘The Gun’ Elrick who cleverly chest the ball to ‘Tyson’ Hugo, his resulting strike introduced the Portuguese import to the local wild life as his way wood strike knocked a Koala high out of the tree behind the goal. That would be the last bit of entertainment for the half as the ref blew for half time.

The Farm played well for the first 45 minutes with Hugo, Elrick, Walker, Keep, Leppington and Townsend all having very good first halves.

After a quick inspirational chat by the coach, the Farm came out for the second half pumped and ready. ‘The Hammer’ Lloyd and ‘Roberto Carlos’ Porter were substituted for there demotion to the Reserves bench. Alex ‘Barasi’ Bautista and ‘Brazilian Samba’ Leo were brought on. ‘The Gun’ Elrick was moved into the centre of midfield, with the ‘Gump’ Walker moved to left back and the ‘Bulgarian Master’ Pierre slotted into left midfield.

In the 53rd minutes ‘The Gun’ Elrick found space on the right wing, his low cross feel to the ‘The V’ Liam who turned his defender and with his non preferred right foot, struck the ball into the net for 20 yards out. A great goal by Liam. 1-1 and game on.

3 minutes later the West would take the lead again with one of the best strikes I have seen all season. The ball was struck about 35 yards out at rocket pace right into the top left hand corner. Unstoppable by any keeper. Super goal by the West. 2-1 to the West.

The Farm would not drop the heads, as they pushed for the equaliser. In the 56th minute Jas ‘Forest Gump’ Walker would take a run from left back through the middle of the park and into the box, his run had supporter screaming “run Forest Run”, he found himself on the end of a good cross by ‘Bulgarian Master’ Pierre and from about 3 inches out in the centre of the goal, according too those on the line, ‘Gump’ Walker would tap the ball wide of the post. How he missed who knows but the equaliser still beckon the Farm.

The resulting goal kick would rebound back for the Farm and the resulting strike on goal lead to a hand balled by the West defender in the box. The ref blew for a penalty. Leo stepped up and struck the ball into the net. 2-2.

By this time the Farm were on top of the game, and knocking the ball round well. Liam, Keep and Elrick all having good chances to push the Farm a head but all struck there shots wide.

In the 77th minute ‘Bulgarian Master’ Pierre was involved in a one-two with ‘Gump’ Walker and the Stoichkov like strike from 18 yards had the West keep pull off a great one handed save. Well done to Gino who is not a keeper.

In the 82nd minute, the hard working Pierre got injured and was substituted for Jarryd ‘Leo Sao’ Davis. The remainder of the game would pretty much be a stale mate as the West defended well to keep the Farm out.

The ref would blow the final whistle for a 2-2 draw and cemented the Farm coach as the draw king. Both teams walk away still undefeated.

A good performance by all players especially Elrick, Hugo and Keep.

The Farm coach was happy to end up with a point given we went behind twice but thought we were good enough to win the game. He now hands the reins over to Jay Walker for 3 games as he heads off on his honeymoon. Let’s hope The Pres can continue the undefeated run. All the best top the lads for the next 3 weeks.
